Professional Chrome Delete Services

One of the most recent trends to take hold of the automotive industry is chrome delete. A specific type of vinyl wrap, paint or powder coat that is designed to hide (“delete”) the chrome trim that vehicle manufacturers put on the interiors and exteriors. Many car owners and automotive enthusiasts consider chrome trim to be an outdated design trend, so a chrome delete allows car owners to get a more modern aesthetic for their vehicle.

There are 3 different application methods used to blackout chrome trim.

We can accommodate all three methods, and each have it's specific advantages, however we prefer and recommend painting and powder coating for chrome delete services.

Lifespan

How long does chrome delete last?

The lifespan of a chrome delete depends on the method used and the quality of the materials. Some methods will last longer than others.

  1. Painting & Powder Coating: If the chrome is painted or powder coated, the longevity will depend on the quality of the paint and the quality of the paint / powder coat job. High-quality materials that are specifically formulated for use on cars can last for several years.
  2. Wrapping: Vinyl wrap chrome delete can last for several years. The quality of the vinyl and quality of the application process determine the longevity of the wrap. Vinyl wraps can last up to 5 years or more, depending on the conditions the vehicle is exposed to.

Reversing

Is chrome delete reversible?

The reversibility of car chrome delete depends on the method used. Some methods are reversible, while others are not.

  • Painting & Powder Coating: If the chrome is painted or powder coated, it is generally not reversible. The paint / powder coat will need to be sanded or stripped off in order to restore the chrome. This is usually a time-consuming, labor-intensive process, and will probably damage the chrome underneath.
  • Wrapping: Vinyl wrapping is reversible. If the vinyl chrome delete was done correctly, the vinyl can be removed without causing any damage to the vehicle's original chrome.

Washing

Does regular washing / polishing fade a chrome delete over time?

Routine car washes and polishes may cause the finish of a chrome delete to fade over time. The harsh chemicals and high-pressure water used in car washes can strip the protective clear coat on the vehicle, causing the black and chrome finish to fade or become discolored. Additionally, polishing compounds and waxes used during detailing can also cause the finish to deteriorate.

To protect the finish of a chrome delete, we recommend hand-washing with mild soap. Avoid using harsh chemicals or a pressure washer. Lastly, make sure any products used are high-quality, such as car waxes and sealants.

Warranty

Do you offer a warranty on your chrome delete?
